‘A lingua das bolboretas’, best show at the XXV María Casares Theater Awards

A total of nine pieces obtained a prize and the great favorite, ‘A Lingua das bolboretas’ is made with four in total

The play ‘A lingua das bolboretas’ has won four awards at the XXV María Casares Theater Awards, among them the best show. The awards, organized by the Association of Actors and Actresses of Galicia (AAAG), have been announced at a gala that was held on Thursday evening at the Rosalía Theater, with the presence of regional and local authorities, as well as well as the cultural sector.

In the category of best show, competing, in addition to ‘A lingua das bolboretas’, the works ‘Dreaming Juliet’, ‘Bailar Agora’ and ‘Microspectivas dun marica millenial’.

In the case of the children’s show they have been ‘Os nenos da varíola’, by Pérez & Fernández; ‘Ris Ras’, by Baobab Theater; and ‘Lázaro de Tormes’, from Pedras de Cardon. ‘Children of Smallpox’ has been awarded.

In total, nine shows won an award. ‘A Lingua das bolboretas’ reached four: show, direction, supporting actor and adaptation-translation. ‘Bailar Agora’ got three: leading actress, direction and lighting; while ‘Microespctativas dun marica millennial’ has won two awards: protagonist and original text.

The leading actress has been for Marta Alonso Tejada (‘Bailar agora’). In the final he met Raquel Espada (‘O Premio’), and Victoria Teijeiro. Meanwhile, Belén Constenla, for her role in ‘O Mozo gives the last row’, achieved the best supporting actress.

David González has won the award for best leading actor (‘Microspectivas dun marica millennial’), a category in which he has competed with Josito Porto (‘A lingua das bolboretas’) and Xurxo Cortázar (’32m2′) as finalists. For his part, Fran Lareu, for ‘A lingua das bolboretas’ by Sarabela Teatro, has won the best secondary.

Gonçalo Guerreiro has been nominated for the best direction, for ‘A lingua das bolboretas’; Marta Alonso Tejada, for ‘Dancing Now’; and Xavier Castiñeira and Esther F. Carrodeguas, for ’32m2′. Gonçalo Gueirreiro and Marta Alonso Tejada have won this award.

In the category of best original text, Esther F. Carrodeguas (’32m2′), Santiago Cortegoso (‘O Premio’) and Vanesa Sotelo and Davide González (‘Microspectivas dun marica millennial’) chose. The award went to Davide González and Vanesa Sotelo for ‘Microspectivas dun marica millennial’, from Incendiaria.

NOMINATIONS

‘A lingua das bolboretas’, by Sarabela Teatro, with eight, has led the nominations in these awards. They were followed, with five, by the works ‘Bailar Agora’, by Marta Alonso Tejada; ‘Dreaming Juliet’, by Elefante Móvil; and ’32m2′, by ButacaZero. For its part, ‘O mozo da Ultima Row’, by Redrum Teatro, was up for three awards.

In total, 13 shows have competed as finalists for one of the 14 awards. Unlike last year, which were held virtually, the gala was held in this edition at the Rosalía Theater in person with 50% of the theater’s capacity, just under 340 guests. However, to facilitate its dissemination, it has been broadcast on YouTube.
