Discussed with Sultan Haitham bilateral relations and joint cooperation
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad concluded, yesterday evening, a short visit to Muscat, during which he discussed with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, bilateral relations and joint cooperation.
The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Sultan Haitham held an official session of talks with the Syrian President at Al-Baraka Palace, during which he renewed his condolences for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck his country and Turkey. The Omani Foreign Ministry added that Sultan Haitham assured the Syrian President, “The Sultanate of Oman will continue to support its brothers to overcome the repercussions of this natural disaster.”
For his part, the Syrian President expressed his deep thanks to the Sultan, the government and the Omani people “for their solidarity and standing with the Syrian Arab Republic,” expressing his “appreciation for the Omani relief efforts that contributed to mitigating the effects of the earthquake.”
The Omani Foreign Ministry said that the two sides “reviewed during the session the course of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and the areas of joint cooperation,” in addition to “exchanging views on all developments on the regional and international arenas, and efforts aimed at consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region and the world.”
