A life devoted to defending his music

Three decades of touring the dance halls, producing sometimes formidable titles, defending them on stage according to variable formations, piloting its controllers, supporting music as an autonomous culture.

Commonly presented as the “godfather” of the Montluçonnaise scene, Gilda Guillet is much more. It can also be considered as a memory of avant-garde music produced over the past half-century. He recently celebrated his thirty-year career.

Thirty years later Gilda is still there. At nearly 65, he doesn’t want to stop. Because music is his life. This former career soldier quickly changed. He has done radio and hosted programs on Radio 3. Now with his company Gilda Mix, which specializes in music, he hosts dance parties throughout the region.

Pleasure and meaning

Gilda Guillet, from Vichy to Guéret or Montluçon, most of those who come to listen to her could be her children. Between the Louxor, the Manoir and the Moulin Bréchaille, among others, Gilda has seen three generations pass and dance, seen couples form, and seen their children on the dance floor. “Some people tell me: but are you still there? Yes, because he loves it. He enjoys talking to customers. “I like contact, at night, conducive to confidences. People who come are either alone, have problems or are there to party. It is up to us to supervise them so that they feel good. Today, a lot of things have changed, it’s more difficult, but I take as much pleasure in making people dance,” says Gilda, an eternal enthusiast.

While the French touch triumphed, democratizing electro, he refused the crown offered to him, stubbornly putting his art, his music at the service of “sharing” (among his favorite words), exploration sound and those nights spent making three generations dance.
