The property is owned by the Ministry of Culture, and its restoration has been planned for years, but no real action has been taken. Left to its own devices, the building, for which they never managed to find about BGN 300,000 for restoration and turning it into a museum, gradually collapsed, and now only the foundations remain.
The “Borba” team came across an apocalyptic sight at the site of the home of one of the main apostles of the April Uprising, also popularly known as Arbanaschet. Currently, only the stone foundations remain of the once neat building, and access to it is limited by the “jungle” around .
Mayors and patriots from 6 Bulgarian cities and villages with which Hilarion Dragostinov is connected have also formed a club that bears his name.
So far, however, he has not been able to get the opportunity to realize his ideas related to the house and its transformation into a museum. The heirs of Hilarion Dragostinov himself indicated in their will that an exposition should be created here, dedicated to the prominent Bulgarian and to the other 13 revivalists who came out of Arbanasi. They even provided things, books and furniture.
The house itself clearly dates back to the 17th century and is about the same age as the US.
