A left movement jumps into Bulgarian politics, who is behind it

A completely informal association under the name Left Platform “Progress” was presented in Sofia. The unification is declared to be common actions of citizens and organizations with the aim of bright left-wing representation in political life, said publicist Stanislav Dodov, quoted by BNR.

According to him, the BSP has ceased to be a true left-wing party: “The Bulgarian Socialist Party – at least at this moment, in its form, is only Bulgarian from the three words in its name. Our goal is to pressure it and other political entities to undertake a course towards a real modern left,” noted Dodov.

We don’t have a crisis of political representation, we have an extremely well-represented economic minority and a grossly under-represented economic majority. This happens because of the ultra-capitalist state we live in, which creates huge inequalities and concentrates wealth in the hands of a few – this is what political scientist Strahil Deliyski said during the press conference of the Left Platform “Progress”.

“For me, it is obvious the need for any form of mobilization, behind which is the understanding that another world is possible, another country is possible, other relations are possible,” said Deliyski. He insisted on unification against capitalism.

Behind the goals of the Left Platform “Progress” stands the movement “Stand Up. BG” with leader Maya Manolova. Its members attended the presentation of the new initiative.
