Rigobert Song, coach of the Cameroon national football team, has accused goalkeeper Andre Onana of contempt and of failing to listen to his recommendations, and that he believes his closeness to Samuel Eto’o, president of the Football Federation, makes him do what wants.
Song’s speech came during a leaked video that was widely circulated on social media on Thursday.
Song and Onana
Rigobert Song ruled Onana out of Cameroon’s second World Cup match against Serbia, to be replaced by Davis Ibas in the match which ended in a 3-3.1 draw against Switzerland, before leaving his national team mission to return to his homeland.
In the leaked video, Song accused Inter’s Italian goalkeeper of not paying attention to his recommendations as a coach, adding: I told Onana the morning of the match that I didn’t want to work with him anymore, he started crying, I told him, my son, I don’t have time for that, I’m getting ready for the match, and the day before the match I informed Samuel Eto’o of my decision.

Song revealed that due to the latest problem, training was stopped, and asked all players to go to the locker room and back to the hotel, and added, “I told Onana that I ruined the training, and Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, was in the stands and saw everything”.
Song explained that Onana went to file charges against him with Eto’o, and continued, “Unana believes that being with Eto’o every day and being close to him will make him argue against me, but he doesn’t know this man, and Eto’o told him to go and talk to the coach.”
