A law firm with a passion for culture

Feller Mielke Rechtsanwälte is the largest law firm in Landsberg with ten lawyers. This year, the law firm is participating as a sponsor in the Ellinor Holland Art Prize ceremony and is also providing office space for an exhibition. What is planned for the future

Landsberg’s law firm Feller Mielke is located directly on the main square and has a view of the Schmalzturm. This year, it is taking part in the Ellinor Holland Art Prize ceremony and the Long Night of Art. In previous years, lawyer Joachim Feller and the law firm have acted as sponsors; this year, it is the law firm. “We want to support the Ellinor Holland Art Prize and thus also the spirit of the foundation,” says Joachim Feller, explaining the decision. We see it as an obligation to give something back to society.

In addition, an exhibition is taking place on the first floor of the law firm. The idea for this came about together; they wanted to offer space for exhibitions to little-known and young artists at the beginning of their careers, says Joachim Feller in an interview with our editorial team. The exhibition will begin with paintings by his lawyer colleague Annette Meier Goldmann, who has been working at the law firm since 2020 and specializes in family law.

If the weather is good, the pictures will be shown on the west-facing roof garden of the law firm on the first floor. There is not only interesting architecture there in combination with the old brickwork of the directly attached historic town hall – on a higher roof garden, the law firm is located on three floors of the old town building, musicians could be placed to accompany the exhibition musically from off-screen, so to speak. If the weather gods are not kind to the Long Night of Art, the law firm will have a lot of work to do, because then various walls on the first floor will have to be cleared. The library, an impressive room in the law firm, would then also be used as an exhibition venue. The next exhibition is already planned for autumn and will show works by the graphic artist and cartoonist Dieter Olaf Klama.

The firm now looks back on a 124-year history. It was founded in 1900 by legal counsel Dr. Grassmann. From 1925, it was run by attorney Höglauer, followed by the later mayor of Landsberg, Hanns Hamberger, who handed the firm over to Hanns Höcherl, a relative of the then Federal Minister of the Interior Hermann Höcherl. Volker Dlugosch followed, and in 1994 a partnership was founded with Volker Dlugosch, Marlis Mielke and Joachim Feller. Mielke and Feller have been running the firm since 2013. It has grown steadily over the years, and ten lawyers are now working there.

The fact that so many specialist areas can be covered in this way is a strong competitive advantage, because larger mandates often touch on several specialist areas, says Joachim Feller, who became known in the media as a criminal lawyer through some spectacular cases such as the kidnapping and murder of Ursula Herrmann and the derivatives scandal in the city of Landsberg. What is less well known is that the firm also represents many prominent personalities in criminal and family law. Despite everything, Joachim Feller still has time for his hobbies, playing polo, which takes him to competitions all over the world. And the guitar, which he will be heard playing again in spring 2025 as part of a charity concert in the Landsberg City Theater. Feller, a founding member of the TILL theater group, wants to bring other musicians on stage for the upcoming 25th anniversary, and perhaps also members of his former band.

An exhibition with works by the artist Annette Meier Goldmann will open at the law firm on the night of art on September 21st at 6:30 p.m. Magician Louis von Eckstein will also be there.
