Paderborn – Hamburger SV has continued its small series of successes in the 2nd Bundesliga and remained undefeated in the eighth game in a row.

The North Germans won on Friday evening in a game marked by spectacular offensive actions at SC Paderborn with 2: 1 (1: 1) and improved to fifth place in the table for the time being. The Ostwestfalen remained without a win in their fourth home game in a row and missed the jump to a direct promotion place. In front of 13,000 spectators in the Benteler Arena, Moritz Heyer (5th minute) and Tommy Doyle (90th + 4) scored the goals for Hamburg, Felix Platte (38th) scored for the hosts.

A furious start gave the guests, who had changed to three positions, the opening goal with the first notable attack. Two of the professionals newly appointed to the team were involved. Faride Alidou hit the post in his starting XI debut before Heyer scored the 1-0 for the guests with his fifth goal of the season. Shortly thereafter, Bakery Jatta (12th) and the strong Alidou (23rd) failed to SCP goalkeeper Jannik Huth.

The hosts, who last celebrated a home win against HSV in 2019 and thus blocked the promotion of the Hanseatic League, came in the intense game in one of the first good offensive actions to equalize by Platte. The striker met with a left-footed shot in the lower right corner after Sven Michel had done some preliminary work. Paderborn had the best chance of scoring the winning goal through Uwe Hünemeier, who hit the post in the 54th minute. On the other hand, HSV also missed a few good opportunities, only when substitute Doyle scored in stoppage time to win.
