Four people will appear on December 8 and 9 before the criminal court of Rennes for a large trafficking of heroin between the Netherlands and France, we learned this Friday from Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes. . The case began on July 23, 2020 with the interception of a vehicle traveling in the direction of Caen (Calvados) by the customs services of Honfleur. 54 kg of heroin and more than 600 grams of cocaine hidden in various hiding places were found inside the vehicle, for a value of the goods estimated at over 1.3 million euros.
Before the investigators, the 25-year-old driver explained that he could not honor a loan for the purchase of a fishing boat. She then asked a friend to put him in touch with people looking for a driver to deliver drugs from the Netherlands for a fee.
The suspects arrested in February 2021
After the young man’s indictment, the investigations carried out by the Rennes research section made it possible to confirm “the organized nature of this transport which had been the subject of preparatory meetings, and the acquisition of dedicated vehicles and telephones. “It was highlighted also the presence of a trailblazing vehicle occupied by the sponsors”, explains Philippe Astruc in a statement.
The investigation led to the arrest in February 2021 of suspects, sponsors and accomplices of this drug importation. Upon completion of police custody, four men from Côtes-d’Armor and Maine-et-Loire were indicted. They face a ten-year prison sentence and heavy criminal and customs fines.
