The landslide has occurred on the mountainside from Sneheim in Hiorthfjellet, the Governor of Svalbard informs.
– The landslide has gone through the scooter trail to Linken and down towards the cabins. The governor investigates the area with scooter patrols and helicopters. We ask people not to visit the area, the Governor writes in a press release.
There is still danger level 4 – large – on Nordenskiöld Land. 117 residents in Nybyen in Longyearbyen had to be evacuated on Friday afternoon due to the danger of landslides.
Large shoals of up to seven meters had then built up along the top of Gruvefjellet. This was the third time this winter that residents of Nybyen have to evacuate. The previous evacuation lasted from last Saturday to Monday.

Hiorthfjellet is 928 meters high and is located on the north side of Adventfjorden, just north of Longyearbyen.
