The Forest Fire Protection Society (SOPFEU) today sends 20 forest firefighters to New York State to fight a major fire in Minnewaska State Park.
Along with these firefighters, there is also a representative of the agency participating in the trip, as well as a firefighter from the La Tuque substation.
SOPFEU also indicates that for the summer season, which is coming to an end, Quebec’s forests have suffered less impact than in recent years.
On average, nearly 19,000 hectares are affected annually. Only 235.9 hectares were affected this year.
