Former US President Donald Trump, who is running for a new term, said he does not think he would run again in 2028 if he fails to return to the White House in this year’s election, the Associated Press reported.
“No, there isn’t. I think that’s going to be it, that’s going to be it,” Trump said when journalist Sharyl Atkinson asked him if he would run again.
The comment is notable because Trump appears to rule out the possibility of running for a fourth term and because he rarely acknowledges the possibility of legitimately losing the election.
In 2028, Trump would be 82 years old, a year older than current President Joe Biden. Biden dropped out of the race after a disastrous debate performance and after months of attacks from Trump and other Republicans that he was too old and unreliable for the job.

The NBC poll gives Harris a 5 percentage point lead. Of 1,000 voters surveyed, 48 percent said they had a favorable view of Harris, up from just 32 percent in July — the biggest jump in a politician’s approval rating in a televised poll since George W. In the CBS poll, Harris leads by four points, 52 percent to Trump’s 48 percent within a margin of error of plus or minus two points.
