A kayaker from Latvia enters another final at the world championship

Latvian kayaker Aldis Artūrs Vilde entered the B final in the 200-meter distance at the world championships in canoeing and kayaking in Samarkand on Saturday.

In the preliminaries, Vilde finished fourth in the competition of seven athletes in his rowing, losing 0.648 seconds to the author of the best result, the Russian Maxim Oseledko.

The six first-place finishers, as well as the owners of the three fastest times among the seventh-place finishers, entered the semi-finals.

In this distance, 29 kayakers started in the preliminaries.

In the semi-finals, Vilde completed the course in 36.648 seconds, taking fifth place in the nine-row event.

The Latvian lost 0.785 seconds to winner Mesias Baptista of Portugal, but was 0.520 seconds behind third place Gwanghi Cho of South Korea.

First and third place went into final A, and the 4th-6th place finishers will row in final B. The finals will be held on Sunday.

It has already been reported that at a distance of 500 meters Vilde entered the B finalwhich takes place on Sunday.

The World Championship in Samarkand ends on Sunday.
