LOS ANGELES: A jury in the US city of Los Angeles on Friday convicted Daystar Peterson, the Canadian rapper known as Tory Lanez, of shooting fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, wounding her in the foot, after an argument in 2020, prosecutors said .
A jury convicted Lenz, 30, of three felonies of carrying a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a motor vehicle, assault with a semi-automatic pistol and grossly negligent use of a firearm. Lenz faces more than 20 years in prison and possible extradition to Canada.
Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion, 27, had said in her testimony earlier that Lenz shot her in the foot after a party in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020, adding that the shooting was preceded by an argument that intensified when they both started attacking the musical walk of the latter.
CBS News quoted Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, as saying she needed surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 27. Megan Thee Stallion was not in court on Friday. Lenz was arrested on Friday after being released on trial bail after a stint under house arrest.
