A judge quotes Almeida to testify for keeping parks closed | Madrid

The head of the Court of Instruction 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinado, has summoned to declare the mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the councilor for the Environment, Francisco Carabante, for keeping the city parks closed during the coronavirus pandemic. As recorded in a car issued this Thursday, the magistrate has admitted to processing the complaint filed for prevarication against the regidor and the mayor, so he has agreed to summon both to hear his version. The appointment, scheduled for May 23, must be accompanied by a lawyer. The Prosecutor’s Office has also been called.

The judge has agreed to study the case promoted by the lawyer José Luis Mazón, who has charged in his brief against the agreement of the City Council to close the large parks and green areas of the city. Of course, Judge Peinado clarifies that this initiative does not presuppose “the existence of a criminal act”. The instructor wants to listen to the parties before making any other decision, since the complaining lawyer has also asked him to adopt the immediate opening of these closed spaces as a precautionary measure.

Peinado quotes the mayor and councilman to testify to resolve this urgent request. And it tells them to go physically to court, “as this body lacks the means to carry it out electronically.” “They must appear wearing a regulatory and approved mask, and without metallic elements or accessories, including ornamental ones (such as watches, rings, etc.), which could be objects where the possible COVID Virus will stay for a long period of time- 19, in order to preserve the judicial building, of possible contagions of the disease ”, adds the magistrate in his writing.
