A federal judge who had been investigating cases related to the crime organized has been killed by a bullet on Tuesday, with his wife at his home in the State of Colima (Mexico), announced the supreme Court. The judge Uriel Villegas was at home, when armed men burst and opened fire. He and his wife have been killed.

Two minors, the children of the magistrate, and a maid have survived the attack. “We ask the competent authorities of their support to ensure the security of federal judges and their families, and that the corresponding responsibilities are the subject of investigation and determined,” said Arturo Zaldivar, president of the supreme Court.
In charge of a case on a cartel
The secretariat has also condemned the murder of the judge and his wife. The attorney general’s office announced on its Twitter account that it “supported fully” the investigation into this attack. The judge had been working since February in a federal criminal court in the city of Colima, capital of the State of the same name.
Previously, he had been a judge in the State of Jalisco, and, according to the press in mexico, he had been in charge of the case of Ruben Oseguera, of the name of the son of Nemesio Oseguera El Mencho “, leader of the powerful cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion. Uriel Villegas had ordered the transfer of Oseguera Jr. to a prison of Oaxaca in 2018, where he was extradited to the United States in February.
