A journey through food words such as pasta, pizza or coffee, terms that contribute to defining a solid cultural and linguistic identity, because just naming them and Italy immediately comes to mind. This makes us reflect on the influence they have had in making the gastronomic culture of the Bel Paese known to the world. A culture that has a recognized “father” like Pellegrino Artusi who with his work “Science in the kitchen and the Art of eating well” – the famous Manual which is also a linguistic and political project, given that the sharing of gastronomic uses and of a common language, concrete like the one spoken in the kitchen, was for Artusi an important piece in the process of unification of Italian culture and Italy itself – he spread it first in the Bel Paese and then in the world, and ” continues” to do so through various editions and re-editions in more than 10 languages, including the latest in Chinese. It is the story that, tomorrow and on 9 November, will transform London into a showcase of Italian gastronomic and linguistic culture thanks to Casa Artusi, which brings to the heart of the English capital, guest of Eataly Londo, a tribute to the cuisine and cultural roots of Emilia-Romagna.
Participants, in fact, will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique sensorial experience with a tasting of Emilia-Romagna products, accompanied by wines from the Emilia-Romagna area, which will enhance the authentic flavors of our country. The program opens tomorrow November 8 from Eataly London with the inauguration of the exhibition “Italianisms in the world”in collaboration with Italy Emilia-Romagna and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The exhibition, organized for the “Week of Italian Cuisine in the World” n. 8, explores how Italian terms such as “pasta”, “pizza” and “coffee” have become global symbols of Italian gastronomic excellence. Afterwards, Casa Artusi will offer a fresh pasta course with the Mariettethe experts in the Emilia-Romagna culinary tradition. The November 9th the English capital celebrates the “Roots Tourism Day” with the event “Italea Emilia-Romagna and Casa Artusi”, an innovative project that promotes roots tourism as a unique and personalized experience for Emilia-Romagna people abroad, offering important services to roots travellers. The initiative also aims to celebrate Italy’s cultural and gastronomic heritage, strengthening ties between Italian communities in the UK and their homelands. The event will feature institutional and associative representatives who will offer an important opportunity to delve into projects for the promotion of Italian cultural roots abroad and the link between gastronomy and Italian traditions in the world, including Domenico Bellantone, Consul General of Italy in London, and Alessandro Gaglione, president of Comites in London.
