A job with meaning: childminder training starts again

The need for high-quality, flexible and individual childcare is growing. Around 40 childminders work at the Frauen* im Brennpunkt association: They offer care in small groups and family-like structures at home or in companies. A new training starts in February.

“Being a childminder gives my life a lot of meaning and a wonderful life and everyday content,” says Lidija Kogler, herself the mother of a two-year-old son, describing her motivation for becoming a childminder. She will complete her childminder training in December and will then look after children aged zero to 14. For the political scientist, it is a good opportunity to get back into working life after maternity leave and gain a foothold in the educational field.

Compatibility of family and work

It is a profession that brings many advantages: childminders are the focus of the Women’s Association* in an employment relationship that is protected under labor and social law. Nevertheless, everyday working life offers a lot of scope for creativity and the opportunity to work independently – on the basis of sound training and regular further training. Working with children brings meaning and joy and is also ideal for parents who still have their own children to look after.

Certified training in February – applications now open

The next childminder training in Tyrol will take place at the BFI in Innsbruck from February 2025, the Frauen* im Brennpunkt association informs in a press release. This course is free for women* on maternity leave who were previously employed. Job seekers can also receive up to 100 percent of the costs reimbursed. In addition, funding is possible as part of the educational money update from the state of Tyrol. Frauen* im Brennpunkt also supports the participants who register for training through the association.

Newcomers welcome

Anyone who would like to enter the pedagogical field will receive sound pedagogical training on this course and can enter the profession directly through the Frauen* im Brennpunkt association. Thanks to the association’s increased cooperation with companies, the model is also attractive to all those who are looking for work in childcare outside of their own home.
