A Japanese tester has revealed the first details of the remake of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica

There is virtually no doubt that the next updated edition will receive the cult horror game Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. Not so long ago, series producer Masachika Kawata himself hinted at a remake of this part, and today more specific information about the upcoming game has appeared. A Japanese tester from Capcom has revealed some details of the remake of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica, confirming previously rumors.

The author of the leak noted that he currently works in the debugging and verification department of all Capcom games being developed. Recently, his team received an early build of the updated version of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. The project is broadly reminiscent of previous remakes of the series. He was able to try out a small demo of the game, which introduced new mechanics and opportunities for completion.

According to the tester, the remake of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica is a story about Claire Redfield on Rockfort Island, which unfolds from a third-person view and is very action-packed. In his post, he provided the following plot and gameplay details of the game:

The game begins with a prologue in which Claire remembers Raccoon City and we see an explosion. Claire searches for her brother and we begin with a leisurely tutorial in the Umbrella Corporation building. The player controls Claire as she walks through offices, and when she escapes from guards, she is captured and sent to Rockfort Prison.

The prison is huge, with many cells and guard rooms. When a new character, Ricardo, frees her, she encounters some military man in a black suit, but he is killed by debris from the explosion. The island is attacked and the main character manages to escape, but at the very end of the prison part she meets Steve in his cell, who asks her to let him out. Claire hesitates, but decides that if he is against the corporation, then he is not the enemy.

They run away together and end up in some kind of safe room. Here the player can freely switch between Claire and Steve. The player can explore the following locations on behalf of any of the characters. Everyone has their own set of skills.

Claire is better with knives, her aim has become more accurate and faster. Steve can fire two pistols at once and runs faster, but cannot mix herbs and can throw knives at enemies from a distance. Claire is better at puzzles, can tell the player how to solve them, and sometimes sees hidden objects. Steve knows how to use stealth and knows some complex passwords.

The release of the remake of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica is definitely planned no earlier than 2025.
