Thirty abstract canvases
“This is the first time that I have worked on a specific theme,” explains the artist, a former independent teacher of plastic arts in Montluçon, now retired. “I chose that of trees because they are, for me, life companions. “
” With them [les arbres], we have a close relationship. They resemble us and we resemble them in their attitudes, their stature, their characters. We need them. “

In his abstract works it is possible to glimpse trunks, barks, woods, trees in spring, flowering branches or graphic trunks under the snow. “But it is not figurative painting. It is the gaze of each one that gives life to the painting in a different way. Thus leaving the visitor the opportunity to interpret his works at will, without being guided.

“I want people to be able to see what they want. This is also why I choose titles that mean nothing to anyone. »Like Kasu, Fortoki, Meshito, Chotlug, Sokokaï or even Balaï…« No one is influenced by these names. The visitor is therefore completely free.
“The trees stand there, erect, strong, sometimes fragile, silent, watching us move. They force us to stop, contemplate them, grasp their beauty. This is what I wanted to share, ”concludes Catherine Genet.
