This Saturday, not far from Laillé (Ille-et-Vilaine), a serious accident took place on the portion of the Estuary Motorway, which connects Nantes and Rennes. A driver from Maine-et-Loire was shot and wounded while driving on one of the four lanes. A hunter is in custody.
It was around 12:45 p.m. that the driver was hit in the neck, as reported by Ouest France. While traveling in the direction Nantes-Rennes, the victim received a large caliber bullet which came from the right of his vehicle.
The man from Maine-et-Loire, however, managed to park his car on the side of the road, despite his injury. Quickly alerted, the emergency services hurried on the spot and took care of him, before transporting him in absolute urgency to the Rennes University Hospital. On Saturday night, the 67-year-old motorist was in critical condition and his prognosis was in jeopardy.
Another passenger was also in the vehicle alongside the victim, but he was not injured. In shock, he was taken care of by the emergency services.
The shooter is in custody
After the emergency services left around 2:30 p.m., the gendarmes investigated the hunters who were present near the accident.
The Rennes prosecutor’s office subsequently confirmed that an investigation was opened for “unintentional injury”, and that a hunter was taken into police custody.
