A huge tragedy with a sixth-grader in a canal in Stara Zagora

A sixth-grader died ridiculously while trying to pull her fallen shoe out of a canal passing through Stara Zagora. The tragic incident happened in the early hours of May 12. This was confirmed by the regional inspectorate of the education department, quoted by “Telegraph”.

There were several other peers with the victim, two of whom tried to pull her out of the water, but failed. The frightened children returned to their school and there informed a teacher, who in turn called 112.

The school psychologist immediately started working with the kids present at the scene.

The incident happened after the end of school hours, clarified the Sofia University “Hristo Botev”, where they did not hide their concern about what happened. The OD of the Ministry of Interior – Stara Zagora diverted questions about the tragic case on the pretext that it was still being worked on.

The canal, which is up to 4 meters deep, passes through the southern part of Stara Zagora. The water that passed through the turbines of the private hydroelectric power plant flows through it. The facility is owned by the state “Irrigation Systems” EAD, which has the obligation to secure the approaches to it.

The District Prosecutor’s Office – Stara Zagora succinctly commented that pre-trial proceedings have been instituted under Article 122 of the Penal Code, procedural and investigative actions are underway at the scene, all witnesses are being interviewed.
