A huge tragedy. A former Greek youth representative was killed

Greek footballer Nikos Tsoumanis, a former national team under 21, is dead. According to Greek media, the 31-year-old defender was found dead in his car after his family and friends reported missing. Police are working on a version of the murder, as Tsoumanis’ body was found without signs of life with his hands tied and a tape wrapped around his neck.

Tsoumanis died of suffocation. His body was discovered in a car parked in the coastal suburb of Kalamaria near Thessaloniki.

Greek media reported that the football player had his hands tied with plastic straps. He had a trouser belt wrapped around his neck. His family and friends missed him for several hours.

In 2011, Tsoumanis scored two starts for the Greek under-21 team. The offspring of Macedonikos went through several Greek clubs during his career. He scored 69 starts in the Greek top competition, for example Aris Thessaloniki.
