A huge hole full of water, which opened for unknown reasons in a field in central Mexico, is getting bigger, specified by the local civil protection, quoted by DPA.
The hole, which was only five meters in diameter when it was first discovered in the village of Santa Maria Zacatepec in the central state of Puebla, is now 97 by 78 meters, specified the general coordinator of the local civil protection Jose Antonio Ramirez.
Here is our now famous and impressive sinkhole in Mexico a few days ago. Some of the main reasons for sinkholes are dissolution of minerals, tubification of the soil due to high infiltration forces, or collapse of a soil structure due to sudden changes in effective stresses. pic.twitter.com/IKjOfgr8fc

The owner of the only house in the area literally on the edge of the crater, discovers her for the first time when she heard a loud noise over the weekend. Ramirez said that her house is at risk.
The causes of the hole are being investigated.
Mexico’s National Civil Defense says groundwater flowing into the easily eroding soil may have caused the crater.
The depth of the hole is about 20 meters.
Popocatepetl Volcano is about 50 km west of Santa Maria Zacatepec. The land there contains deposits of ash and fine volcanic fragments.
According to the American Geological Survey, holes form when groundwater circulates underground, dissolving the rock beneath the surface and creating spaces and caves underground.
Authorities have repeatedly warned the public to stay away from the crater.
