A House Full Emigrates: Controversial Start of Newly Broadcasted Show

The love child of ‘Een Huis Vol’ and ‘Ik Vertrek’? ‘A House Full is emigrating’! And that turns out to produce just as much controversial television. Viewers eagerly discuss the first episode of the emigration special.

“That Johan wants something and drags the whole family into the abyss”

In A House Full emigrates the Jelies family and the Kraan family realize their dream by emigrating. Johan and Janneke Jelies leave for Spain with their offspring, Ivan and Linda Kraan move with the family to Limburg. Like viewers of I leave are already used to, this comes with the necessary setbacks and language barriers.

Time is running out for the Jelies family. Their house in Tollebeek has already been sold, but they do not yet have a home in Spain and no plans in place once they move in. Spain are. Viewers note that emigration seems to be mainly Johan’s dream. “That Johan wants something and is dragging the whole family into the abyss,” writes a viewer who is fed up with dad Jelies. Another calls the ‘overconfidence’ he allegedly has ‘cringing’.

“We will miss special frikandels,” says mother Janneke about the impending Spanish adventure. And although the children are already receiving Spanish lessons, the preparation for emigration leaves much to be desired. ‘Are they really only going to look three months in advance where and whether they can buy a house in Spain at all?! Don’t you work out this plan at least two years in advance?!’ one viewer wonders out loud. “Already the stupidest decision of the year: the Jelies family emigrates to Spain,” it also sounds.

And the Kraantjes? They have the planning in better order; they are going to run a campsite. But their emigration adventure also gets off to a rough start. Father Ivan is clearly irritable and has not yet mastered the French language – and let’s be honest, neither has the English language: “Do you speak English or Netherlands?” His eldest son is clearly his biggest critic and likes to point out his mistakes to Dad. Who forgets a waste pass when you go to the municipal cleaning service! And although the farewell has yet to come, mother Linda – who leaves two of the seven children behind in the Netherlands – is having a hard time packing the things.

In addition to criticism and bewilderment, viewers also express admiration for ‘this leap of faith’.
