“Creating a Christmas concert in the Liepāja theater is absolutely a great honor, joy and a special event for me. It is an opportunity to work together with talented and professional people, it is happiness – to tell a story that is very important to me. The time of waiting for Christmas and its celebration for everyone from we are a little different, but we all have the desire to experience this miracle in common. We are creating this concert so that everyone present has the opportunity to leave behind the doors of the Liepāja theater the rush characteristic of December, the completed and unfinished tasks, and indulge in their Homecoming. The way to Christmas,” says the director .
Together with the director, the musical part of the program was composed by the musical director of the theater Normunds Kalniņš. It mostly consists of songs by Latvian composers in winter and festive moods – familiar and lesser known, as well as songs that have become an integral part of the holiday season. He himself will also be at the keys during the concert, together with musicians Mika Akota, Raita Eleri and Māri Zīlmani.
Actors Anete Berke, Agnija Dreimane, Anda Albuže, Agnese Jēkabsone (December 17, 19, 20, 22, 28 and 30) or Karīna Tatarinova (December 16, 21, 23, 27 and December 29), Viktors Ellers, Kaspars Kārkliņš, Kārlis Artejevs, Valts Skuja, who are currently learning songs under the guidance of vocal teacher Ieva Dreimanes-Sidares.
Choreographer Inga Krasovska, lighting artist Mārtiņš Feldmanis also help to create the concert, Aurika Feldmane and Kristīne Bernarde take care of the visual design.
Wait. To hope. Hurry up. Be at peace. To worry. Catch up. Don’t get everything. Laugh. To talk. Be silent. A bit of an argument. Reconcile. To be at home. Feel at home. Homesick. Be who you are. It’s Christmas.
Liepāja theater is also a home; and its traditional concerts are an integral part of the journey to Christmas for many. The concert will be performed 15 times in the theater between December 16 and 30.
