Apple and Paramount Global discussed the grouping of their streaming services, which would be offered with a price reduction compared to separate subscriptions, according to an article published by the Wall Street Journal, cited by Reuters and news.ro.
The companies have discussed launching a combined Paramount+ and Apple TV+ offering that would cost less than subscribing to both services separately, the article said Friday, citing people familiar with the discussions.
A tie-up between the two rival streaming giants could likely help attract cost-conscious customers who have faced higher costs for everything from groceries to electronics.
Verizon also plans to offer ad-supported versions of Warner Bros Discovery’s Netflix and Max streaming services for about $10 a month combined, instead of about $17 separately, a source familiar with the matter said last month .
Grocery delivery app Instacart said earlier this week that it has partnered with NBCUniversal’s Peacock to offer the streaming service at no extra cost to all of its paying subscribers in the US.
The talks between Apple and Paramount are in the early stages and it is not clear what form the package could take, according to the WSJ article.
Paramount declined to comment, while Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
