The runaway driver was eventually caught and convicted, but it was a long agony for Geynaert. “I was in hospital for a month and had to learn to walk again. It was a total rehabilitation of 8 months,” she says. She calls on everyone to stop anyway in the event of an accident. “It is inhumane to continue driving. Stay with the victim, because that way you can save lives. Luckily someone found me quite quickly, otherwise I would certainly have died.”
