Ligue 1 resumed its rights last weekend, the opportunity for all supporters to rediscover the happiness of seeing their team evolve again into an official match. Whether expectations are high for the season or you simply feel the curiosity to see the new recruits of your favorite club evolve for the first time in their new jersey, the start of the season is always a particularly anticipated and exciting moment. And this time again, our dear Ligue 1 will not have disappointed us!

For this weekend of festivities, the French championship hosted 10 matches, including some great matches between RC Strasbourg and AS Monaco, Toulouse FC and OGC Nice or even Olympique de Marseille and Stade de Reims. All these lovely encounters have, once again, kept all their promises since it is the best total of goals scored on a first day of the league for 45 years ! Indeed, the 34 goals scored during this first day of the championship in France made their way through the records, approaching the first day of the 1977/1978 season which produced 42 goals.
River scores
During this very special day, the river scores were legion. PSG got rid of Clermont on the score of 0-5 thanks in particular to a double from Lionel Messi. On their side, Marseille and Lille also won on the score of 4-1 against Reims and Auxerre. Lens and Montpellier trembled until the end but triumphed over Brest and Troyes on the score of 3-2. Monaco and Lyon got rid of Strasbourg and Ajaccio by the same margin but with a score of 2-1. The surprise of the day surely lies in Lorient’s 1-0 victory against Rennes. Finally, Toulouse et Nice parted with the score of 1-1, while the match between Angers and Nantes resulted in the only scoreless game of the evening. An eventful first day!
