/ world today news/ A new high-speed rail link was opened in China. Bullet trains connected the eastern city of Jinan with central Zhengzhou, Xinhua reported.
The Jinan-Zhengzhou high-speed railway has a total length of 407 km and boasts a speed of 350 km per hour. Thus, bullet trains will reach both cities in just 89 to 103 minutes.
Jinan and Zhengzhou are capital cities of Shandong and Henan provinces.
The new railway line is part of China’s high-speed rail network, which has eight main vertical lines from north to south and eight horizontal lines that connect the east to the west of the country.
By 2022, China will register 42,000 km of high-speed rail network, making the country a world leader in this direction. The trains, which develop a speed of 350 km per hour, run on routes with a total length of 3200 km.
