An owner of a grocery store on the ground floor of an apartment building had to justify himself in court for the improper use of an air conditioner. Apparently, the man was strongly influenced by the neighbors who decided report it to the police.
It was too much noise generated in this case by the air conditioner. The Code of minor offenses (art. 51 paragraph 1) says: “those who shout, noisedisturbs public peace, public order, night rest or causes scandal in a public place, is subject to the penalty of arrest, restriction of liberty or fine. it is worth mentioning the court costs: we can also receive a penalty of 30 days of restriction of liberty.

With this device you can control how much noise the heat pump makes, day and night
There is a whole range of devices that generate a lot of noise. Among these, in addition to the air conditioner, there is also a heat pump. Poles are increasingly willing to equip their homes with this. Nothing unusual. “By installing photovoltaic panels and a heat pump, you can save about PLN 10,000 a year on heating,” – explained Paweł Mirowski, deputy chairman of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in an interview with PAP.
A poorly installed heat pump or faulty unit can generate too much noise, so replacement or repair should be done as soon as possible to avoid a fine. Previously, you can check with a special device – a sound level meter (cost from about PLN 75 on Allegro) – whether the number of decibels does not exceed the permissible limit. “On the border of the property, in single-family dwellings, the maximum noise level during the day cannot be higher than 50 dB, and at night – no higher than 40 dB” – explains “Computer World”.
