A heavy stumble for indoor footballers in Rēzekne

On Saturday, “Jēkabpils lūši / Ošukalns” met with TFK “Rēzekne” during an outdoor football league game. Just a month ago, on February 13, both teams met in Jēkabpils, and at that time the lynxes were 7: 1 superior, but on March 13 our team was not successful.

After five minutes, the result was already 2: 0 in favor of Rēzekne – first the home player Ričards Raščevskis turned his opponent and sent the ball in the unprotected far corner of the goalkeeper, but after a moment the Rēzekne team was more careful at our goal. Next, we had a chance to score a couple of times, but they remained unused. 18 minutes into the match FC’s Igors Lapkovskis viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. The penalty kick that followed was strong and right in the top corner of the goal. Thus, the result became 3: 0 in favor of TFK “Rēzekne”, and the first half ended.

The efforts of Jēkabpils residents to change the course of the game at the beginning of the second half did not yield results. Moreover, the “lynx” counterattacked and received a fourth ball in their goal. 31 minutes into the match Dmitrijs Kuzmins head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately. The home team hit the 6-meter “pendulum” accurately, reaching 5: 0. After two minutes, the “lynx” finally managed to score – this was done by Jurijs Halimons after a penalty kick. The Jēkabpils team replaced the goalkeeper with a fifth player and scored two more goals in his own goal. Only in the last seconds of the match Igors Lapkovskis managed to realize the advantage of one field player, scoring the second goal in favor of Jēkabpils, and the match ended with a convincing victory of “Rēzekne” with 7: 2. For “Jēkabpils lynx / Ošukalns” it was the second loss this season, however, even after this failure, they kept the second place in the tournament table.
