This Sunday, the Rouen Dragons largely beat the Ducs d’Angers, runners-up to leader Grenoble, in a late match on the first day of the Ligue Magnus.
According to the Teamthe meeting, played on Île Lacroix, ended in a 6-1 victory for the Rouennais. This large victory, the sixth of the season after a complicated series marked by seven defeats in fourteen matches, allows the double reigning champions to regain confidence and redress their position in the standings.
A one-sided start to the match
From the first period, the Dragons took the lead over the Dukes with three goals scored in quick succession: Tomas Simonsen opened the scoring in the 9th minute, followed by Rolands Vigners a minute later, then Francis Hardy-Perron at the 18th minute. The Rouennais dominated their opponents, making 16 shots against only five for the Angevins, who failed to realize their opportunities.
A score that gets heavier for Angers
The second period saw the score worsen for the Dukes of Angers, when Loïc Lamperier found the back of the net in the 25th minute. At the start of the last period, Daniel Glad added a fifth goal in the first seconds, followed by a goal from Sebastian Bengtsson in the 53rd minute. The Angevins ended up saving the honor by reducing the gap thanks to Jesper Kandegard three minutes from the end of regulation time.
Rouen progresses in the ranking
This victory allows Rouen to climb three places in the ranking, now placing them in 6th position, tied with Chamonix. Next meeting for the Dragons: a trip to Briançon on Tuesday. As for Angers, who will face Cergy-Pontoise, the stoppage in Rouen marks an important step in the fight at the top of the Magnus League, where Grenoble will host the Chamoniards.
