A former manager of a health care center in Tilburg who was fired there in 2018 due to misconduct, has apparently worked in a similar situation in Limburg for years. That’s telling Omroep Brabant after inspection.

The case happened six years ago at the Amaran health care center in Tilburg. People with mild intellectual disabilities and severe behavioral problems live there. That man was the manager of this place.

Amaran received several complaints about the manager and two of his colleagues. Therefore, an external audit was conducted.

Misconduct

This showed that the three showed misconduct towards the clients of the health care centre. This includes physical and verbal violence, but also the imposition of ‘liberty restrictive measures’ without reason, the regional broadcaster writes. In addition, expenditure worth 37,000 euros was found to be unaccounted for, so it is not clear what was spent.

The matter was reported to the Inspectorate of Health and Youth Care (IGJ). It turned out that it was not only Amaran who raised the fear; The IGJ had also received complaints about the three from outside the institution.

According to the investigators, the manager and one of the employees were responsible. Both of them were shot. The case did not go to trial again.

Manager in Limburg

It now appears that the man started working at the Limburg Dichterbij healthcare center shortly after his departure. People with intellectual disabilities also live there. The man works as a manager at a place in Ottersum, a small town in the town of Gennep.

A spokesman for Dichterbij cannot say anything about the case, due to confidentiality. She explains that new employees must always submit a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). In addition, she says, previous employers are always approached to get an opinion on the candidate.

As the case of Amaran’s dismissal has not reached the court, the former manager could still receive a Certificate of Good Conduct. The manager himself has not answered questions: an automated response to an email says he is currently home sick.
