This Thursday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the EFS (French Blood Establishment) teams organized a collection for the first time in the Grande-Pâture district.
To do this, the large room of the Espace Stéphane-Hessel was made available to staff (two doctors, a secretary, four nurses, a driver). From the welcome with the secretary to the snack prepared by the members of the Amicale for the voluntary blood donation of Nevers, the very precise route that every donor must follow was drawn within the Espace Stéphane-Hessel.
For this first collection, as close as possible to the inhabitants of the Grande Pâture, thirty-nine people had made an appointment (the protocol to be followed with the Covid) to donate blood. “For a collection in Nevers, we have between 45 and 50 people”, notes Nadine Coelho, secretary
Four-hour collections
A gesture that saves lives, which takes place in the hour, from the reception to the taking of the snack. “The collections are organized for four hours, either in the morning or in the afternoon or straddling the lunch break to reach as many people as possible”, describes Alain Sacquard, doctor stationed at the EFS since February 15.
We highlight the inhabitants and the Esgo. We change habits. The inhabitants are united.

A new collection point in Nevers which brings complete satisfaction to Maxime Gruyer, director of Esgo (Espace socioculturel Grand Ouest). This has worked (in conjunction with the City, owner of the premises) to offer the Espace Stéphane-Hessel to EFS teams and thus give impetus to the Grande-Pâture district. “We highlight the inhabitants and the Esgo. We change habits. The inhabitants are united. They are sensitive to public health issues ”.
Room. The EFS team is dissatisfied with the rooms available for blood drives. With the requisition of rooms for the Covid vaccination, the EFS must find other places. “We have a practical organization. We need qualified rooms so as not to reduce the number of donors. The need for blood is a vital need, ”points out the doctor, Alain Sacquard. The team is awaiting the reopening of the donation house, a structure that would also allow plasma donation, “it should be in the city center, in a busy street”.
Upcoming dates. Thursday March 11, at the Departmental Military Delegation, Square de la Resistance, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Two other collections are planned at the Stéphane-Hessel space: Thursday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Thursday, October 14, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
