Bulgaria abounds in unique places, but this phenomenon leaves tourists speechless.
A spring near the village of Krivini, Dolni Chiflik municipality is a real attraction because the water has the property of burning.
The spring is located in the ruins of a former bath – a building built during the time of Sotsa. The water is ignited with a lighter or a match. Be careful, if you are going to set the water on fire, it immediately bursts into flames.
Local people say that the water helps a lot with all kinds of injuries and skin diseases. They claim that the spring also heals the eyes. People are often seen at the spring filling tubes with the burning water for healing.
The history of the spring is no less interesting than the fact that the water itself really burns.
They say that about 60 years ago they drilled a hole in the place. They say that he was in favor of the presence of oil and gas. Then the water gushed out. Then, due to the increased interest and the constant coming of “medical tourism”, they built a bathhouse with two troughs – for men and for women, and places to stay. There was a real boom in the number of people arriving for treatment after the Chernobyl accident. People came to fill containers with iodized water.
According to the local people, tests were done on the water from the spring, which showed a high presence of iodine – 30%. They say that it burns because methane comes out of the bowels of the earth with the gushing water. Still others believe that the water contains hydrogen sulfide. The hydrogen sulfide in the water destroyed the bacterial abscesses in the body and the water therefore helped with skin problems.
The old people say that patients with psoriasis received great help from the burning water.
The spring water is not warm, but it tastes salty. The animals at the watering hole did not need to lick salt afterwards. The water protected them from internal parasites. A few residents of Krivinci drink a small cup of water on an empty stomach, against ulcers, but do not recommend others to drink without a doctor’s prescription. This can hardly be taken before a thorough analysis of the water, writes provato.bg
