German coach Jurgen Klopp has announced that the club’s striker, Liverpool Portugal’s Diogo Jota will miss the World Cup due to an injury sustained Manchester City.
Jota was injured Sunday night at the summit between Liverpool and Man City after suffering a muscle injury in his calf.
Jota’s absence represents a severe blow to Portugal’s chances in the World Cup, as he is considered one of the team’s most important offensive weapons alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Leao.
Interestingly, Portugal participate in Group H of the World Cup, along with Uruguay, Ghana and South Korea.
