De Grasse set a personal and national record and achieved the most valuable triumph of his career, on the same track he was silver behind the Jamaican Usain Bolt at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In Tokyo, he has already won a bronze medal in a hundred, thus repeating the placement five years ago.
He also has another Olympic bronze from the Rio in the 4 × 100 m relay. The 26-year-old Canadian completed part of his preparations for the Olympics in Šamorín.
The previous three Olympic titles in the two hundred were celebrated by Jamaican Usain Bolt, who had already ended his career. In the Tokyo final, up to five runners now fit under 20 seconds. Not a single representative of the European continent made it to the finals.
