A shark carcass has been spotted on a beach on Long Island, northeast of New York. It would be the body of a great white shark.

This Wednesday, July 20, on the beach in the village of Quogue, northeast of New Yorka passerby came face to face with a great white shark carcass. Alerted, the authorities want to find the body of this shark to autopsy it and thus understand the reasons for its presence and its death, so close to the city of New York.
More and more sharks
Sharks are becoming more numerous off the New York coast, attacks too. According to our colleagues from CBS Newsthe sharks are even beginning to swarm near the metropolis, to the point that the authorities are beginning to alert themselves.
While surfers report seeing a shark jump out of the water just a few meters from the beach, a person reported the presence of a dead great white shark in the village of Quogue. dispatched to the spot, the authorities had time to take a photograph of the bodybefore the latter is carried away by the waters.
The search for the body continues
In a statement, the Quogue Village Police Department described the animal as a shark approximately two meters tall. Police say they are actively searching for the body and are asking New Yorkers to contact them if they have more details.
Finally, when interviewed by CBS, marine wildlife experts indicated that “The white sharks and all the sharks that are here on Long Island are only there to feed on small bait fish” and “Many of these sharks lack the ability, teeth, jaw structure to tear off large chunks of flesh.”
