Three years ago, via Cluj, the seamstresses advanced into the Champions League. Since then, the roster of both rivals has changed considerably, but the same coaches will take them into battle.
The Cluj manager is one of the icons of Romanian football, former defender or midfielder Dan Petrescu. A pupil of Steaua Bucharest, who in his career has worn the jerseys of teams such as Chelsea, Genoa and Southampton, he has also played almost a hundred matches with the Romanian national team.
“He will not deny a great defender from Chelsea and other prestigious clubs. He has about seven players of the same left, but new players are also typologically selected for the system, which is the same as three years ago,” smiles Jindřich Trpišovský.

The 54-year-old still lonely coach has already managed to coach several famous clubs such as Wisla Kraków, Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow or Jiangsu Suning. He is now a CFR coach for the second time in his career. After winning the title with the Transylvanian club in the 2017-18 season, he left Romania for a few months to return to CFR after a short spell in China’s Guizhou Hengfeng and take him to further league titles.
“We won’t play three-year games for boys on video, but knowing the opponent is a certain advantage. Their team has a very defensive nature. But now they play more offensively. They have very skilled forward players and they are also very organized on defense. They rely on dangerous set pieces played by Deac. They don’t have much of a possession game, focusing on fast counter attacks. The advantage is that we know some players and we don’t have to start from scratch, “reflects Trpišovský.
So the question is how to break Prešov’s concrete.
“I think we will find the key to their defense, that the implementation team will prepare us well”, defender David Jurásek challenges the coaches.
There will be no major changes in the Slavia squad. “The nomination will be very similar to the match against Liberec. We will have Christ Tiéhi with Matěj Jurásek, who played in B on Sunday. We believe that Ondřej Lingr will also be ready for the match”, striker Trpišovský.
