Difficult first set and easier second set. Hurkacz in the quarter-finals
He started the first game with his own administration Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole not without problems reached for the first game. It was already 30:30, but then he won two balls. In the second game, Hurkacz had a chance to break his rival. However, he did not use any of the two break points, and after a while Lajović was out of trouble.

The duel evened out. Hurkacz probably scored points at his own service. He had another chance to break in the sixth game. Lajović, leaning against the wall, played brilliantly and defended himself again. Hurkacz himself was in trouble at 4: 4. Ultimately, however, he saved two break points. Later, both contestants were fighting game for game. At 5: 4, the Pole had two set balls to break, but the Serb did a great job – first by serving an ace, and then pushing Hurkacz to the defense during a longer exchange of passes.
Hurkacz led to his application the result 6: 5 and it was known that if he doesn’t want to fight in the tie-break, he has to break the opponent in the next game. And so it happened. The Polish tennis player won the first three balls after Lajović’s mistakes. The Serb was still trying to make up for the losses, but in the end it was Hurkacz who turned out to be better and took the lead in the sets.
Excellent performances by the Pole and a set under his dictation
The second set started with a Wrocław player who confidently and quickly won his game. Then he had a chance to break his rival, but missed the chance. The third game in which the Pole served was very important. The competition was extremely fierce and in the end this part of the game was decisive. Hurkacz only on the occasion of the fourth chance to win finally led to the state of 2: 1.
The next gem was probably the worst on his own for Lajovic. The Pole scored the first two points, and then the Serb was still trying to save the situation and led to 30:40. Then he made mistakes, and Hurkacz used the first break point and led in match with a breakthrough predominance. Later, the Pole won at his service. The next two games were quick, because Serb triumphed to zero with his own pass, and then Hurkacz repeated it.
Then Hurkacz could play calmly. Lajović managed to play another game, although the Pole even had a match ball in it. Hurkacz sounded inspired with his pass and the score of 5: 3. He sparkled with his service again and it was with this element of the game that ended the meeting. Another ace service, game, set, match. The entire meeting lasted one hour and 38 minutes.
An extremely difficult task for the 25-year-old in the quarter-finals. Hurkacz will face the leader of the world ranking – Serb – for promotion to the next round Novak Djokovic. The 20-time winner of the Grand Slam tournaments advanced to the quarter-finals without playing.
