Funny coincidence: the two Swiss hockey players lined up on the night of Sunday to Monday in the NHL championship scored a goal into an empty net.
At the Canada Life Center in Winnipeg, Nino Niederreiter (32) ensured the success of the Jets by lighting the lamp in the 58th minute in an empty cage (6-3), the American Alex Nedeljkovic having given way to a sixth skater of field.
The Grisons right winger, who benefited from passes from Alberta defender Josh Morrissey and Ontario fullback Dylan DeMelo, was credited with his first goal since the start of the 2024-2025 season. He also returned a +3 card during the 16’20” spent on the Manitoban playing area.
Winnipeg, which won its first five duels of the new year, remains the only undefeated team among the 32 teams in the North American professional league.
Fiala’s fourth goal
At the Honda Center in Anaheim, Kevin Fiala (28) scored the third goal for Los Angeles, winning 1-4, in a net abandoned by Czech goalkeeper Lukas Dostal. Aligned for 17’01” by Kings head coach Jim Hiller, the Saint-Welsh left winger also ended the match with a positive differential (+1).
In six outings, he has a five-point record, including four goals.
Los Angeles, which grabbed six points in eight matches, played all its games on its opponents’ ice. He will return to his Crypto.com Arena on October 25 after sweating on Wednesday in the Las Vegas Golden Knights arena.
Anaheim – Los Angeles 1-4
Winnipeg – Pittsburgh 6-3
