A goal and an assist: Xherdan Shaqiri delivered a top performance for Vancouver in Chicago’s 3-1 win. The Fire picked up a third victory in a row to get back into the race for the play-offs.
Chicago is thus only two points behind the bar. Saturday’s arrival from Atlanta could allow the Fire to switch to the right side.
In Vancouver in front of 14,984 spectators, Xherdan Shaqiri opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a shot from the right armed at the edge of the surface for his fourth success of the season. In the 90th minute, he launched Christipher Mueller for the 3-1 Fire. Captain Rafael Czichos restored Chicago’s lead with a header in the 76th minute.
