The newspaper l’Union announced this Wednesday, May 19 that a criminal investigation was opened in Reims after the discovery of the body of a four-year-old girl at her mother’s home.
The events took place on the third floor of a residence on rue de Bezannes, near Tinqueux.
Firefighters smashed down the apartment door after being alerted by someone worried about not hearing from the mother.
The latter was near the body of the child.
According to the daily, the first findings led the prosecution to open an investigation to “Neglect of a minor resulting in death”.
The mother could not be taken into custody. Suffering from a severe form of Covid, she had to be hospitalized in intensive care. Added to this is a double mental handicap affecting mother and child.
