To thank the thousandth donation of Marcel Rolland, aged 77, to Héma-Québec, the firefighters of Laval are offering him a surprise.
The fire station located in the Chomedey sector in Laval will hold a fundraiser in his honor for the first time.
“I am very proud and I have the feeling of accomplishment. If one day someone close to you needs it, what are you going to do? We have to stop saying to ourselves “we will go there” and simply do it”, underlines Marcel Rolland.
He is only the 20th in Quebec to cross the milestone of 1,000 donations.
“I have the health to do it. There are people who need it and in addition it does me good since it oxygenates my system, ”he says.
A blood donation can save up to three lives.
