The space rock, which is approaching Earth soon, is more than 1,000 meters long.
Roughly two and a half times as tall as the Empire State Building, it is classified as a “potentially dangerous asteroid”.
The asteroid is one of the rocks that are regular visitors, next time you can expect it on January 18, at 22:51 Hungarian time.
However, this month’s visit promises to be safe, as the asteroid roars 1.93 million kilometers from Earth. This is roughly 5.15 times the distance from here to the Moon. THE orbital calculations they only have a margin of error of 133 kilometers, so there is no danger of us colliding with this asteroid in the near future.
The 1994 A space rock known as the asteroid PC1 was first discovered in 1994 by astronomer Robert McNaught at the Siding Spring Observatory in Australia. Later, scientists found recordings of it back to September 1974, which is why professionals can be so confident in their careers.
Anyone who is curious about the asteroid should make the most of this month, as the next time is expected to be a similar distance from Earth on January 18, 2105.
