Organ donation is an act of unconditional love. Whoever says it knows well what he is talking about. Is Antonio Manuel de Dios, member of the Extremeña Association of Transplanted Patients (ASEXTRAS)who yesterday, along with other colleagues from the association, They set up an information table next to the Don Benito culture house to raise public awareness of the importance of being donors and at the same time pay tribute to all the people involved in continuing to support this initiative. All this on the occasion of National Transplant Day.
De Dios, who underwent a lung transplant several years ago, remembers that being a donor can save the lives of many people. “Almost anything can be donated and there is practically no age limit,” he underlines while pointing out that in his family, after receiving some lungs himself, “everyone became an organ donor, but also people around me.”
Antonio Manuel de Dios, who was on the waiting list for more than a year, almost lost all hope of moving forward when he entered code zero, but in the end his compatible donor arrived and after 16 days “he was walking around Madrid,” he says. He now leads a normal life and collaborates with the association encouraging other people to become organ donors.
Mayor’s visit
Joseph Louis Quintana, mayor of Don Benito, visited the members of the association present next to the house of culture in the morning. There he was interested in the work they do and that is so important for society.
