A German bakery chain is broken: the future of several branches is at risk

Sternenbäck operates 34 branches in the south-west, including six in Hechingen. The future of these branches is still uncertain as no official information has been provided. It seems that things are looking better for the places Gera and Spremberg. There, continuous solutions appear after investors have been found.

Sternenbäck blames the drastically changed market conditions for the financial woes. The company’s statement reads: “A rapidly changing market environment in combination with a significant increase in production costs in Germany has recently made competition to the point that there were no longer any alternatives to restructuring legal.”
