On November 11, 2024, around 7:43 p.m., a fire broke out at 14 rue du Pomet, in Toulon, on the fifth floor residential building. The incident was exacerbated by the explosion of a gas cylinder, which led to the complete evacuation of the building.
Rapid intervention by firefighters
As soon as the warning was received, 17 Var firefighters were deployed, using two fire engines, an aerial ladder, an ambulance and two command vehicles. Thanks to their effective intervention, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to the lower floors.
Human and resettlement tax
The resident of the damaged apartment suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Toulon hospital for appropriate treatment. Due to the damage caused by the fire and the explosion, two residents had to be rehoused next to the town hall. No other injuries were reported among the building’s occupants.
