An officer with the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc) has resigned, following allegations that he was at a party which Gerard Hutch attended on the day that he was cleared of murder charges. The officer, who had worked with Gsoc for several years, had been involved in a number of high-profile investigations into potential garda misconduct. Gsoc is responsible for overseeing policing in Ireland, and for investigating matters related to the conduct of gardaí. The allegations against the resigned officer have been passed on to senior management at Gsoc. Garda headquarters has also stated that it is aware of the situation.
